Choose one of the following two paper prompts:
1. One of the course objectives is “a greater appreciation for music and musicianship.” Your assignment is to reflect upon what you have learned about music over the semester, and examine how that knowledge has helped you gain a greater appreciation for music and musicianship. Feel free to relate it to the music you personally enjoy. Has your understanding of that music increased? Write a typed paper of about 500 words, reflecting on these and other related questions. The paper is due to be posted no later than midnight Thursday of week 15.
2. Think about some your early musical memories and choose one to write about. Write an essay (minimum 500 words) about your musical memory.
o Who chose to play the music — you, your parents, your church, your friends?
o Describe the music: meter (duple, triple, or quadruple), major or minor, instrumentation)? What is the style of the music (e.g. reggae, country and western, EDM, etc.) and who is performing it? o Describe the feelings and associations you have with the music.
