1. I would start by educating younger adults on options for their long term care needs. I will go over medical insurance the explain the different types. I will go over facilities and care at home, etc. Many older adults are forced into things because they have no written plans, this is why lifespan management is important. Technology is becoming a big part of our lives and that is something that the aging population should be become apart of. Seniors can now work longer because they are not required to leave their home which helps saves money for their future. Wearable devices are becoming popular which can relay information to a doctor without a patient seeing them. This is something that the aging population can start to do. They can be used as a tracking device, medication reminders fitness coach, track calories, heart rate and sleep patterns, and so much more. It is something that is easy because there is not a lot of explaining to do. Some are capable if getting wet which can help a senior whos has memory issues.
2. Technology is the face of the future in every aspect of life including healthcare. With changing times come a time to utilize the benefits the times have to offer. As a healthcare administrator that hopes to open and in-home health care company, my goal would be to provide in-home care on a technological scale. For instance smart homes are in the process of being regulates and approved. Passive intervention devices monitor patient health from a distance without interfering with their care and collect data from the patient regarding sleep quality, blood pressure, bathroom visits, respiration, temperature and humidity, and gait (Cocco, 2011). Some intervention sensor systems will directly transmit information to the provide should a fluctuation occur. These systems could be used on patients with higher risks. Similar technologies including assistance technology like design modifications, health monitoring sensors, and triggered response services are already in use (2011). I would promote the use of reminder systems, including automated medication reminder calls, similar to office visit reminders. Promoting the integration of these systems into my home health design will decrease overall costs for the company and the patient while increasing health outcomes and the patient’s independence.
